Quick Trip Over Gatineau Park

Today was one of those days where I couldn’t resist the pull of the sky. I took the Cessna (C-GJAP) out from Carp Airport (CYRP) - nothing fancy, just me, the plane, and the open air.

The Gatineau Hills were stunning, as always. The trees are still wearing their winter calm, but there’s a kind of rugged beauty in that. Flying over the rolling terrain, I caught the glint of frozen rivers winding through the valleys. It’s the sort of view that makes you pause and take a deep breath, grateful to witness it.

There’s something indescribable about being up there. It’s quiet - not the absence of sound, but a kind of stillness that wraps around you. No schedules, no lanes to stick to, just the freedom to roam where your heart wants to go.

I lingered a bit longer in the air today, looping lazily back toward the airport as the light shifted into that golden hour glow. It’s hard to explain, but every flight feels like a gift, a little reminder of how small and wonderful life can be.

Sometimes, I wish everyone could see the world from up here. It changes you, even if just for a moment.
